Dog shot during police operation in Ewarton
An early morning police assignment in Ewarton, St Catherine took a dramatic turn yesterday after a dog was shot and injured during a confrontation with lawmen.
Reports are that about 10:20 a.m. on February 19, a police team went on an assignment in the community when the incident unfolded.
It is alleged that while entering a dwelling, the officers were attacked by a dog. During the encounter, a policeman reportedly drew his service pistol and fired a shot, injuring the canine.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting have sparked an investigation by the Ewarton police and the Independent Commission of Investigation.
Further details are expected as the probe continues.
