JDF investigating viral video of alleged soldiers

The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) has confirmed that it is investigating a viral video showing two armed men, both of whom appear to identify themselves as soldiers, during a tense confrontation at a house.

It is alleged that a woman carried her ‘side man’ to the home that she shared with her partner.

“We are aware of the viral video on social media and internal investigations are ongoing to ascertain more details on the matter, but we are investigating,” a JDF communications representative told THE STAR. The video, which has been making the rounds on social media, appears to capture a deeply personal confrontation that unfolded without escalating into physical violence despite the high emotions surrounding the situation. In the footage, one man, who appears to be the occupant of the home, calmly instructs another man on how to open the door indicating “You wouldn’t know that.” During the exchange, the homeowner identifies himself as a soldier. The second man tried to exit with his clothes in his hand. In the middle of the interaction, a woman briefly peeks her head out from a bathroom.

Throughout the encounter, the man inside the house repeatedly suggests that he was already aware of the alleged relationship between the woman and the other man, speaking in a composed manner as he instructed the visitor towards the door.

Although both men appear to be armed, the situation does not descend into violence. However, the JDF says it is now conducting internal investigations to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
