Cegie turns up the heat in ‘So Mi Like Dat’
Canada-born songstress Cegie, who proudly hails her Jamaican parentage, is embracing her boldest era yet with the release of her steamy new single, ' So Mi Like Dat'.
The track -- a daring follow-up to her debut single Touch Me, featuring G-Loc -- sees Cegie shedding her flirtatious side for something far more confident, sensual, and raw. In So Mi Like Dat, Cegie channels unapologetic feminine energy, narrating her sexual prowess and magnetic pull with intoxicating rhythm and lyrical heat.
"The inspiration to my latest song was that I wanted a song that was more sexual and raw dancehall," she explained. The move marks a clear artistic evolution for the Winnipeg-raised performer, who previously captured fans with the smooth, flirtatious tones of Touch Me.
That debut single, produced by Trizo of KonseQuence Muzik Group -- known for collaborations with stars like Mavado, Teejay, Beenie Man, Gyptian, Masicka, Jahmiel, I-Octane, and Jah Vinci -- introduced Cegie's sultry yet approachable sound earlier this year. But with So Mi Like Dat, she's turned up the voltage, showing fans that confidence and sensuality can coexist fearlessly within dancehall's vibrant landscape.
" Touch Me was more of a flirty song, clean to the ears," she said. "I wanted to show people a different side of me -- a bolder side of my artistry."
As her fan base grows both in Jamaica and across Canada, Cegie is carving out a space for women who own their sensuality without apology. With So Mi Like Dat, she's not just turning heads -- she's starting conversations.
