ReniGAD fuses genres on ‘Afro Walk’
Dancehall chameleon ReniGAD has made a triumphant return to the dance arena with his new single ' Afro Walk'.
The song is a high-energy fusion of Afrobeats and hardcore dancehall that is already sparking a movement across the streets and social spaces. The track blends the infectious bounce and rhythmic pulse of Africa with the gritty edge and commanding presence of Jamaican dancehall. The result is a bold, cross-cultural anthem designed for dancers and partygoers alike. Adding even more fire to the record is dancehall staple Shelly Belly, whose contribution injects signature dancing flair into the already energetic track.
Dance-driven hits are nothing new for ReniGAD. As a former member of the chart-topping group RDX, he was instrumental in creating multiple dance anthems over the years, including crowd favourites including Dancers Anthem, Movements, and the ever-trending LOL, along with a catalogue of dance-centric tracks tailored especially for the ladies. With Afro Walk, he taps back into that proven formula -- this time with a global twist.
The inspiration behind Afro Walk was deeply personal. Following a recent sojourn to Africa, ReniGAD found himself reconnecting with the Motherland in a profound way. Upon returning to Jamaica, he also recognised there was a gap in the dancehall space for fresh, movement-driven material.
"Afrobeats and dancehall have always been close relatives, so for me, Afro Walk is a family reunion in music. Africans and Jamaicans have one thing in common -- we love to dance. The beat of the music itself proves it. I recognised that this is where the movement of dancehall is heading this season leading into summer, and I decided to contribute something that will kick-start that energy," ReniGAD explained.
The growing popularity of both the song and its accompanying dance move has further fuelled the momentum. So much so that ReniGAD has themed his upcoming birthday celebration around the cultural wave sparked by the single.
