Three charged with agriculture-related offences
Three men have been arrested and charged by members of the Agricultural Protection Branch Area 3 Team for breaches of the Agricultural Protection Act and the Butcher's Regulation in two separate incidents in Manchester last Friday.
Charged with failure to produce agricultural receipt are 36-year-old Jermaine Mullings and 35-year-old Milton Powell, also known as 'Gramazone', both farmers are from Prospect district, Manchester. Meanwhile, 45-year-old butcher Allistair Brown of Whitney Turn, Porus, also in Manchester, was charged with failing to notify intention to slaughter. Reports from the lawmen are that about 1:03 a.m., the team visited a slaughterhouse in the area and found Brown in the process of slaughtering. He was asked for proof of notification to slaughter and was unable to provide the team with the receipt. He was subsequently charged.
Mullings and Powell were operating separate motor vehicles along the Bustamante Highway in Clarendon when they were signalled to stop by the team. Both men complied and were found in possession of agricultural produce in large quantities. A receipt for the produce was requested from the men, but none was made available. Both men were informed of the offence and were subsequently charged.
Mullings, Powell, and Brown are set to appear in court on March 19.
