Fed-up residents patch dangerous Grange Lane themselves
Fed-up residents of Morris Meadows took matters into their own hands on Tuesday morning, launching a community-led effort to patch sections of the badly damaged Grange Lane roadway linking George Lee Boulevard and Lakes Pen.
Residents say years of neglect and worsening road conditions pushed them to act, as motorists travelling between Spanish Town and Portmore continue to battle potholes, damaged tyres and dangerous driving conditions along the busy stretch.
The road is also heavily used by residents of Morris Meadows, Happy Content and Grange Lane.
According to community members, the deteriorated roadway has become a major safety concern, with one motorcyclist previously losing his life in a crash residents believe was linked to the poor state of the road.
Determined to ease the burden on commuters, residents carried out repair work themselves in hopes of making the roadway safer and more passable.
They are now calling on the relevant authorities to step in and carry out permanent repairs to the important thoroughfare.
