NHT, RJRGLEANER to clash in Business House final
Defending champions National Housing Trust (NHT) will look to defend their crown in the Xpress Sports-sponsored Kingston and St Andrew Business House Football Division One final, when they face RJRGLEANER Communications Group on Saturday at the Ashenheim Stadium, Jamaica College.
The Division One final will be curtain closer of a doubleheader at 6:30 p.m., as Scotiabank will face off against Appliance Traders Limited (ATL) ATL in the Division Two final at 4:30 p.m.
NHT had booked their return to the final after defeating McKay Security 1-0 in the semi-finals at Constant Spring Sports Complex last Friday.
Shaun Daley, head coach of NHT, said the goal will be to leave the field as victors and defend their Division One title.
"The team has put in a lot of hard work and we are ready to give it our all to make the NHT proud of their football team as back-to-back champions," he said.
"We expect a competitive and intense game because it's a final and both teams will be going for it and this will make it an entertaining game for the patrons."
Fabian Swaby, head coach of RJRGLEANER, said while they will respect NHT as defending champions they are looking to win.
"NHT are the defending champions so it's not going to be an easy game," Swaby said.
"We are in the final for the first time in many years so we are planning to go all the way and win the Division One Trophy."
Swaby also said he will be looking to his key players to prove the difference in the encounter, several of whom carry Jamaica Premier League (JPL) experience.
"We have a good squad with the likes of Romario Palma in goal, Javane Bryan upfront, our captain Ezran Simpson, Lincoln Castell and Damion English to help lead the RG football team to victory."
RJRGLEANER punched their ticket to the final after they had gotten the better of Wisynco 2-1 in the semi-final, also on Friday.
DIVISION TWO
Scotiabank will be looking to set the tone early when they take to the field against ATL in the Division Two final.
Damion Gordon, head coach of Scotiabank, said they will be relying on their cohesion.
"One team, one goal," said Gordon. "They are a quality team so we have to take our chances and give a solid defensive performance by staying focused and disciplined."
Errol Andrews, head coach of ATL, said the support of their company and fans has lifted the team to new heights.
"This has been more than just a season for the ATL family. We had a poor season last year. If this was a relegation division, we would have gotten relegated," he said.
"With the company fully behind us, our management team carrying us, our supporters following us and the players fighting for us, the evidence shows how committed to the cause we are."
He continued: "Now that we are in the final the sky is the limit for us. We want this championship and we have acquitted ourselves well to win it."
