Jamaica College's Makaelan Woods stormed to a leading 46.39 to headline qualifiers for the Boys' Class One 400m final at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Championships inside the National Stadium.

Woods, the favourite for gold, is expected to face strong competition from William Knibb Memorial High School's Jabari Matheson (46.54), Fogo Road High School's Paul Henry (46.72), Hydel High School's Junior Galimore (46.76), Titchfield High School's Nishawn Walker (46.88), JC's Omary Robinson (46.90), and Kingston College's Jabulani McLeod (46.80).

In Class Two, Calabar High School's Diwayne Sharpe impressed with 46.97 to top the qualifiers. Sharpe, another strong gold medal prospect, will be challenged by Excelsior High School's Jaeden Campbell (47.13), Kingston College's Jason Pitter (47.24), Lacovia High School's Nicholas Jones (48.22), Jamaica College's Oneil Lawrence (48.44), and Rusea's High School's Tiene Barrett (48.59).

Meanwhile, in Class Three, Jamaica College's Jayden White clocked 50.62 to lead the qualifiers into the final. He will be joined by teammate Tariq Creary (51.43), Kingston College's Taariq Gordon (50.30), Lacovia's Darrian Francis (51.09), Tarrant High School's Janhard Taylor (51.64), Titchfield's Rhomarni Bennett (51.88), St. Elizabeth Technical High School's Orlando Henry (51.34), and Kingston College's Maleeq Fellows (51.58).

The finals are scheduled for tomorrow.
