Jamaica win three gold, one silver in 4x400m relays
JAMAICA ended the 53rd Carifta Games in a blaze of glory last night in St George's, Grenada, winning three of the four 4x400m relays, with a second-place finish in the other.
The quartet of Imani Lowe, Alyssa Carty, Danielle Dixon and 400m champion and record holder Shanieka McLean started the run for Jamaica by capturing the girls' Under-17 event in 3:40.11, defeating Bahamas into second in 3:44.39, and Trinidad and Tobago third in 3:45.04.
The team of Kevin Minott, Diwayne Sharpe, Markland Williams and Jason Pitter made it two from two by winning the boys' Under-17 4x400m, clocking 3:13.07 to take gold, with Bahamas (3:23.81) and Barbados finishing second and third, respectively.
Jamaica made it a hat-trick of wins in the girls Under-20 4x400m as the foursome of Davine Dickenson, Breana Brown, Shanike Lindsay and Nastassia Fletcher stopped the clock at 3:34.03 for the victory, with Bahamas second and Barbados third.
Barbados foiled Jamaica's bid for a clean sweep as they captured the boys' Under-20 4x400m in a record 3:05.49. Jamaica finished second in 3:06.79, while Bahamas were third in 3:20.64.
