Dancehall diva Dovey Magnum says she considers herself one of the genre’s strongest talents as she prepares to flood the market with new music this summer.

The singjay, whose given name is Simsky Harrison, recently released a new single, Be Patient, produced by Nigel Angus of Palm Tree Flow Records. The track highlights her signature style, lyrical prowess and distinctive melodies, setting the stage for what she says will be a steady stream of releases in the coming months.

While she has a catalogue of unreleased material ready to go, Dovey Magnum said she is taking a measured approach, noting that fans will have to “be patient” as she rolls out her projects.

The entertainer, who shot to fame in 2017 with the breakout hit Bawl Out, said her passion for music remains unchanged, despite the evolution of the dancehall industry over the years. She is also known for hits such as Prayer Me A Use And Win, Sex Slave and Female Shella.

Now, nearly a decade after her breakthrough, Dovey Magnum said she remains confident in her abilities and unconcerned about trends or competition. According to the artiste, the industry may have changed, but “a bad artiste” will always stand out.

"The game change up in many ways, but one thing still remains, bad  artiste a bad artiste, and Dovey Magnum a bad artiste,” she said. “Suh I care zero about what is happening or who is happening because me sure my space secured. My love for music is just as strong as it was when I just started.”

She insisted that, at any given moment, because she knows what she brings to the genre. With fresh music lined up and confidence at an all-time high, Dovey Magnum appears determined to make her presence felt throughout the summer season.
