U17 Reggae Girlz hunt victory

January 27, 2026

Jamaica's under-17 Reggae Girlz will continue their hunt for a place in the 2026 FIFA U17 World Cup when they play host to Aruba in their second Group D match of the Concacaf under-17 women's qualification at Stadion Gulliermo Prospero Trinidad, today at 7 p.m.

The young Reggae Girlz started their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Guyana on Sunday, while Aruba suffered a 3-1 defeat to Honduras, who lead the group with three points, followed by Jamaica and Guyana on one point each, and St Vincent who are yet to play.

With Guyana not playing again until Thursday, the Reggae Girlz have a chance to consolidate their place in the group with a win over the home team. However, a loss for the Girlz would leave their chances hanging by a thread, as only the group winners will advance to the final round automatically.

The two best runners up from the six qualifying groups will join the group winners, along with the top four ranked nations in Concacaf.

Reggae Girlz coach Marlon Hilton anticipates another difficult encounter and noted the importance of getting a win today.

"Aruba is a disciplined and competitive team. They are organised and will test us. So we must stay focused and play with intensity," Hilton said.

"It is very important (to win). A win puts us back in control of our group and gives us momentum moving forward," he said.

He added that once they can play up to their standard, progress to the final round remains on track.

"We believe in our squad. If we stay disciplined and execute our game plan we have a strong chance to progress," he stated.
