Old man thinks Eve had sex with the serpent
Dear Pastor,
A older man engaged me in a conversation concerning Adam and Eve.
He asked me if I know the story about what took place in the Garden of Eden, and how Adam and Eve were told that they could eat all the fruits, but they were forbidden from eating the apple that was in the middle of the Garden. He said one day Satan came in the form of a serpent and tempted Eve and told her that the apple was sweet and Eve believed him. Then Satan had sex with Eve. She then offered the fruit to Adam who was her husband. He ate it and enjoyed it, then God chased them out of the garden.
This man told me that it was not a fruit that Eve ate. He said that Eve had sex with the serpent and then she enjoyed it and offered sex to Adam, her husband, and both of them became aware that they were naked, and when God called them, they were hiding. I told this man I did not know if that is how that story should be interpreted. He said yes. From I was going to Sunday school, I learnt that it was a fruit Adam and Eve ate and God threw them out of the garden. This version is new to me. So I am asking you, what is your take on the account of Genesis and how sin entered into the world?
Bible Student
Dear Bible Student,
Let me begin by saying to you that the Bible does not say that it was an apple that Lucifer gave to Eve.
But the Bible says that it was a fruit. Nowhere in the Bible would you find that Adam and Eve ate an apple. But for generations, men and women have tried to twist the word of God and have given the Bible, particularly the Genesis account, some weird interpretation. I refuse to read into the scriptures and give it my own interpretation. I must believe the Bible. The account in Genesis is rather straightforward.
Many years ago when I was studying for the sacred ministry, a very prominent person told me that the serpent had sex with Eve. I asked her how that could be and she said the serpent used its tail. I have never forgotten what she said. But as far as I am concerned, that is modernism and that interpretation should be rejected. It is apostasy.
So I say to you, young man, regardless of what others may say, accept the plain teaching of the word of God. Believe what the Bible says. If you believe what the Bible says, you can't go wrong.
